Coronavirus (COVID-19) Trading and Operational Update 3 April 2020

I want to give you an update about the progress we’re making at NIG as we adapt to these challenging times. We are working hard to maintain our service levels and trading operations for you.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have successfully implemented our business continuity plan and moved our people out of our sites, so they can work from home safely. 98% of our teams are now working remotely with full system and phone capabilities. Teams are adjusting well, and I am extremely proud of how quickly we have responded and deployed home working across the business.

As you would expect we are prioritising and progressing claims and would remind you our online claims capability makes submissions easier for you and your customers. I would really encourage you to make use of these facilities and submit via nig.com/claims. The intelligent question set guides you through the information required and you can upload videos, images and supporting documents from any device.

From an Underwriting perspective our aim is to keep you well-informed. In my note last week we clarified the cover in our standard Commercial policies, specifically around Business Interruption and Employers and Public Liability. We have supplied a list of answers to some of your most frequently asked questions so that you can respond to your clients’ queries. If your client has an unusual request do contact us and we will endeavour to help you.

As our Sales team are currently grounded, if you have any new business opportunities please contact your Senior Business Development Manager or Key Account Manager to discuss your client’s needs and agree the approach to be taken. We are keen to help you win and retain business.

We’ll be releasing FAQs specifically for Motor policies so please look out for further updates and information. We’re also issuing a special edition of our Source Newsletter providing risk management guidance and materials including helplines, templates and HR responsibilities to help your clients through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Our Claims, Underwriting and Sales teams remain fully committed to supporting you and your clients and we’re delighted with the positive feedback we’ve received.

We’ll get through this by working together. Stay safe and look after those around you.
